Founding Donors
Michael and Jana Katz & Family
The Niagara Health Foundation and the It’s Our Future campaign are thrilled to announce a transformative donation of one million dollars from Michael and Jana Katz. This generous contribution will play a pivotal role in advancing the healthcare services and facilities in the Niagara Region, reinforcing the couple’s dedication to enhancing the community’s well-being.
“We are profoundly grateful to Michael and Jana Katz for their incredible generosity,” said Andrea Scott, President and CEO of the Niagara Health Foundation. “Their visionary gift will have a lasting impact on the future of healthcare in our region. It reflects their deep commitment to ensuring that Niagara has a world-class health system, capable of attracting top talent, equipped with cutting-edge technology, and housed in state-of-the-art facilities.”
In expressing their motivation behind this exceptional donation, Michael and Jana Katz stated, “The reason why people should be willing to get involved is because it’s in everyone’s interest to make sure we have a world class health care system. We want to attract the best people, have the best equipment, and the best facility. There is no gift too small or too large. Do what you can because we are all going to use the Niagara Health System one day if you don’t use it now.” Mike and Jana also want to thank Mike Somerville, retired Executive Director of the GNG Foundation, for never stopping to advocate for Niagara Health and the new hospital. It was Mike’s passion that inspired the Katz’s gift to the campaign.
“The generosity of our Niagara community is a gift that continues to humble us at Niagara Health. Donations like this one from Michael and Jana Katz will help us in our goal of providing exceptional compassionate care by investing in our people and equipment. That’s why naming the CT in Diagnostic Imaging “The Katz Scanner” is a special tribute to our shared vision for the future of healthcare.” – Lynn Guerriero, President and CEO, Niagara Health
“There is no shortage of people with big hearts and who care about the future of healthcare in Niagara Falls. We offer big thanks to the Katz family for their outstanding show of support and look forward to continuing the momentum toward elevated healthcare in our community.” – It’s Our Future campaign co-chairs, Mayor Jim Diodati and Harry Oakes.
The Katz family’s gift reflects their belief in the community’s collective responsibility towards the future of healthcare. They hope their philanthropic spirit and philosophy of giving back will inspire all residents to contribute to improving healthcare services and facilities in Niagara.
The Niagara Health Foundation and the It’s Our Future campaign invite the community to join the Katz family in creating a brighter and healthier future for all residents of Niagara. Every contribution, regardless of size, plays a vital role in shaping the healthcare landscape for future generations.
